And over a thousand happy customers on the first day!
That pretty much sums up the last 3 weeks.
Since opening our first food rescue market in Berlin Wilmersdorf, we've received an increasing number of requests for another location. We've been searching intensively for a new spot since the beginning of the year and we finally found it! At the beginning of June, we discovered the perfect shop at Schloßstraße 94 in Berlin Steglitz and seized the opportunity. The former drugstore chain was to be transformed into a new food rescue paradise, where over 450 square meters of space would be dedicated to rescuing vegetables, fruit, drinks, snacks, other basic foodstuffs, and many other wonderful food items.
No sooner said than done. We rolled up our sleeves and mobilized all our strength to open our second rescue market on July 3rd. There were definitely a few moments when we doubted we'd be able to open the doors for our customers on time at 11:30 a.m. But together we made it, and by 11:29 a.m. we had stocked the shelves with the last of the merchandise and opened the doors with beaming smiles.
In addition to the waiting customers, ARD, many radio stations and newspaper journalists as well as RBB were also on site and reported about us, the new rescue market and our mission.
We ourselves are overjoyed by the positive response and delighted that more than 1000 customers visited our new store on opening day:
