We are proud to announce that our first rescue event for students took place last Wednesday (November 21st).
Over rescued snacks and drinks, SIRPLUS founder Raphael Fellmer took everyone interested on a journey into his past as a dumpster diver, foodsharing initiator, and social entrepreneur. He has been committed to food rescue since 2009 and has appeared on numerous TV shows such as Stern TV and Markus Lanz. Like the entire SIRPLUS team, he firmly believes in the power of the next generation to be a game-changer.
After the keynote speech and a brief round of introductions, it was time to start chopping. While preparing fresh treats together, blogger Laura Mitulla from the OGNC shared her experiences with food waste and offered many tips and suggestions for a sustainable lifestyle.
From that point on, the students' ideas flowed freely….
Whether it was changes to the school catering, organizing a movie night, or simply wondering about the best-before date, every thought was voiced and recorded. We are always available to support anyone interested in implementing these wonderful ideas. We are incredibly impressed by the energy, creativity, and enthusiasm the students have already brought to the table.
This event was merely the starting point of a large movement at the school.
