So much has happened in the last few weeks! We are completely overwhelmed and touched by the tremendous support we have received from you and so many others. It is only through the collaboration of so many that we are where we are today with SirPlus . Therefore, we want to share our joy about all these developments and give you a little insight.
Shipping of the rescue boxes
We're working at full speed and have already delivered 200 rescue boxes to our wonderful crowdfunding supporters! All supporters should have their rescue boxes in hand by December 23rd at the latest! And it seems many are happy, as we've already received the first enthusiastic thank-you emails: "I didn't expect to receive so many great things from you – I don't even know where to put them all!" wrote one supporter. Ah... that warms our hearts. Thank you for participating, you're simply the best!
Our team is looking for reinforcements
SirPlus still offers exciting internships , whether in the store, warehouse or office, but we are also looking for two permanent employees:
Logistics Manager
We're looking for the person who will ensure that tens of thousands of packages are shipped and thousands of pallets are properly stored and picked next year. Perhaps you're the perfect fit for the position of Head of Warehouse, Delivery & Logistics . In addition to our vision of offering rescued food in our Food Outlet Stores, we want to leverage the power of online networking and rescue and distribute even more food through our webshop. Local transport driver
We're currently looking for food delivery drivers who want to be part of our mission! Working part-time or as a freelancer, you'll be the link between our warehouse, our partners, and the SirPlus Food Outlet in Berlin, representing our partners. And the winner is…“SirPlus”!
In October, the 5th #Next Generation Food Think Tank took place as part of Berlin Food Week. SirPlus took first place in the annual competition for the best e-food business idea. Raphael accepted a €250,000 media voucher from Ströer Media, which we can use for advertising on video screens in Berlin! This will help us raise awareness of SirPlus and enable us to reintegrate large quantities of surplus food into the food cycle!
The aroma of coffee in the SirPlus store
For all you coffee lovers out there, we have fantastic news! Our lovely shop now also offers freshly brewed coffee. Rescued, organic, and Fairtrade from Ethiquable . Could it get any better? Yes, it could: Finally, no more guilt about your to-go coffee!
Because environmental protection and sustainability are important to us, we naturally don't use disposable cups. Instead, we've opted for the reCup reusable deposit system .
The idea: In every participating café, you get your coffee in a to-go cup with a one-euro deposit. Just like a deposit bottle, you return it to any participating café of your choice after use, and the clean cup is reused. No waste, no compromise on enjoyment!
And because we thought the idea was absolutely fantastic, we immediately jumped on board with reCup. Since mid-November, customers have been able to buy fresh coffee plus a reCup at our SirPlus store! And of course, return it!
organic vegetables
We are regularly asked by our very discerning customers whether our fruit and vegetables are organic. Our fundamental belief is that, regardless of whether it's organic or not, we want to show all food the appreciation it deserves, and that's why we rescue perfectly edible, mostly conventionally grown fruit and vegetables from the Berlin wholesale market every morning.
But there's also plenty to save in organic farming, and more and more farmers and retailers are approaching us to bring surplus food back into circulation through a partnership with SirPlus. For example, Ubuntu Farm in Brandenburg will now be supplying SirPlus with organic carrots, parsnips, and potatoes every Thursday. All vegetables that regular retailers don't want. These treasures now come to us and from there into your stomachs. Enjoy!
