The winners of the 11th German Sustainability Award were announced on Friday. And SIRPLUS received the Next Economy Award for our commitment to valuing food.

We are incredibly happy and proud of this amazing award.

The German Sustainability Award , presented in cooperation with the Federal Government, recognizes individuals and projects for their outstanding achievements in sustainability within business, local communities, and research. Prominent figures such as US actor Richard Gere, West African singer Angélique Kidjo, and Irish musician Rea Garvey were honored with special awards for their commitment. Germany's largest sustainability award was presented for the fourth time in Düsseldorf and was ceremoniously handed over by State Secretary Claudia Dörr-Voß.

Not only the high-caliber jury voted, but also the audience.
Here you can watch the 60-second elevator pitch from our co-founder Raphael Fellmer.

We won the Next Economy Award in the Resources category at Europe's largest award for ecological and social commitment - hooray!

We are now more than 70 "rescuer hearts" who dedicate themselves daily to putting an end to food waste.

But without you, our wonderful customers, who help rescue food every day in our 4 rescue markets in Berlin and our online shop , none of this would be possible.
Therefore, a very special thank you goes to you!
Together, since the opening of our first rescue market in Berlin Charlottenburg in September 2017, we have already been able to save more than 1000 tons of food and thus prevent 4500 tons of CO2 from being wasted.

Since November we have also been represented in the East Side Mall in Berlin Friedrichshain, so that the east of Berlin can now also actively participate in saving the city.

Furthermore, on November 25th we had our kick-off for the multiplier program for students, with which we want to motivate more children and young people to get involved in appreciating food and to establish measures for this at their schools.

But of course, we couldn't save all this food without our more than 300 amazing partners who work with us to promote greater appreciation for food.

It is very important for us to emphasize once again that we are not in competition with non-profit initiatives such as Tafel eV or foodsharing. We complement these organizations and source our food directly from producers and wholesalers, offering it at fair prices so that everyone can participate in rescuing food through our rescue markets and online shop .

Because we all have the same goal and are working together to achieve it.

We are incredibly excited for the new year and all the food we will save together.
