Did you know that Germany produces the most packaging waste in the EU?
At SIRPLUS, we want to combat not only food waste but also the plastic madness . Our general principle is: every still edible product has the right to be rescued – regardless of whether it's organic or conventional, vegan or animal-based, regional or imported from afar.
Our food deserves more appreciation – especially when its production or transport has already consumed a lot of energy. Because in those cases, its carbon footprint shouldn't be further increased by unnecessary waste!
We approach the issue of plastic with this same motto. In our rescue markets, you'll find many products packaged in plastic that we've saved from the trash. Unfortunately, the packaging had already been produced by the time it was rescued. Why not at least give the contents of the packaging a second chance?
Nevertheless, we want to inspire you to practice a holistic, sustainable lifestyle – even in our rescue markets! For example, you can bring your own reusable produce bag from home or transport your purchases in a stylish jute bag from our rescue kit . After all, a sustainable lifestyle also includes reducing the consumption of single-use plastics. You can start right away with our products in the SIRPLUS SIMPLY UNWRAPPED CORNER .

Plastic flood: Throwing it away is not an option
Each of us produces approximately 617 kg of plastic waste annually – 220 kg of which is packaging waste – including items such as milk cartons, tin cans, and single-use plastic bottles. The problem is that even if we diligently separate and recycle, plastic still ends up in the oceans, for example, via illegal landfills or wastewater. There, the decomposition of plastic particles can take up to several hundred years! Microplastics enter the food chain of marine life – the consequences are as devastating as they are far-reaching: dead animals, dying coral reefs, and disrupted ecosystems.
Original Unverpackt is Germany's first zero-waste shop – the first supermarket in the country to completely eliminate single-use packaging. The first store opened in Berlin in 2014. This makes Original Unverpackt a pioneer in sustainable and, above all, plastic-free consumption. Their mission is clear: small changes towards sustainability begin in our everyday lives.

Our SIRPLUS SIMPLY UNWRAPPED CORNER offers a wide range of products, from organic basic muesli and various organic nuts to fusilli pasta, organic basmati rice and mung beans, as well as rice, spelt, and organic coconut flour. We rescued some of these products ourselves and purchased the rest to offer you the full spectrum of a plastic-free shopping experience.

The SIRPLUS Unpackaged Corner is rounded off by our shampoo bar – because plastic-free is possible in your bathroom too! The solid shampoos from Nelumbo Cosmetics are silicone- and surfactant-free and contain no other chemical additives. Compared to liquid shampoo, these hair soaps are particularly gentle on your hair and scalp.

Are you wondering how to get unpackaged pasta, lentils, or oatmeal into your shopping bag? It's really easy:
Bring your own container from home or rent one from us for a small fee . Weigh your container in our store and attach the weight label. Then fill it with your desired product and seal it securely. At the checkout, your product will be weighed, and you can pay. And just like that, you've avoided packaging waste and done something good for our planet.
We are delighted to work with you to make the world a little more suitable for future generations.
All the best and have fun shopping without packaging!
